The Indian Constitution is the supreme law of the country. It was framed by the Constituent Assembly, which was set up under the Cabinet Mission Plan of 1946. The making of the Constitution is an important topic for all government exams.
The Constituent Assembly

The Objective Resolution

The Drafting Committee
The Drafting Committee was set up on 29 August 1947 with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as its Chairman. He is known as the Father of the Indian Constitution. The committee prepared the draft of the Constitution for discussion.
Adoption and Enforcement
- The Constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949, celebrated as Constitution Day.
- It came into force on 26 January 1950, celebrated as Republic Day.
